It Takes a Village
Hancock Shaker Village’s Shaker Society

Hancock Shaker Village’s Shaker Society is a group of dedicated donors who generously give to the museum’s Annual Fund – donations that support the day-to-day operations of the Village. With an annual gift of $1,000 or more, you are not only helping to keep the Village running day-to-day but are providing the financial resources necessary to expand our educational programming and public events, amplify the Shaker story through new exhibitions and interpretation, and care for our historic Shaker buildings and collections.

It’s our Shaker Society members who Hancock Shaker Village relies on each year to support the day-to-day operations of Hancock Shaker Village, including:

  • Salaries of our farmers, educators, curators, interpreters and interns who keep the Village operating year-round;
  • Daily care of the Village’s farm animals, agriculture fields, and vegetable and herb gardens;
  • Educational programs that reach thousands of area students;
  • New exhibitions and interpretation that bring the Shaker story to life, as well as care of our 22,000 Shaker objects;
  • Restoration and upkeep of the Village’s 20 historic buildings and maintenance of our 750-acre museum campus; and
  • Utilities that literally keep the lights on and our buildings comfortable during the Berkshires’ sweltering summers and bitterly cold winters.
