Sustainable farming done right.


At Hancock Shaker Village, our heritage-breed livestock is carefully, humanely raised. Our lambs, pigs, and beef cows are raised on the same pastures the Shakers cultivated in the 1790s, and we employ the same farming practices that have produced quality meat for generations. When you buy a meat CSA share from us, you buy grass-fed, all natural meat. Your share will contain beef, pork, and lamb, all professionally butchered and wrapped.

The Shaker Farm Share isn’t like other community gardens. Our gardeners sow, tend and harvest non-GMO heirloom vegetables, herbs and flowers — many of the same varieties grown by the Shakers — on land that’s been in continuous cultivation since the 1790s. Pretty amazing. Our gardeners also follow sustainable Shaker land-steward practices, including seed-saving and an all-natural approach to fertilizing and pest control. Because our heirloom varieties are truly unique, the produce you get in your Shaker Farm Share isn’t what you’ll see at the farmer’s market or what you’d get at another CSA. Once you join, you’ll receive an email each week to tell you what’s in your produce bag and to share Shaker recipes, preparation tips, and other anecdotes.
