Sustainable farming done right.
VEGETABLE & HERB CSA – Available Spring of 2026
The Shakers farmed this land more than 200 years ago. Many of their original farming practices, along with modern-day sustainability methods, are performed by our dedicated team of gardeners and farmers.
Your shares will include several different types of crops, which will differ each week. Some of these crops include, but are not limited to: tomatoes, peppers, carrots, potatoes, squash, pumpkins, cucumbers, onions, garlic, spinach, lettuce, and cauliflower. We are also proud to share that we do not use chemical pesticides or fertilizers in our gardens or greenhouses.
It is especially important to us, as a living history museum, to grow varieties that the Shakers once grew in their gardens. Our weekly CSA newsletter will inform you of what will be in your shares that week, along with recipes and/or historic information about a specific variety of crop you receive. Occasionally, our CSA shares will also include eggs, as well as herbs from our Shaker Herb Garden.
By joining our CSA, you will enjoy and support locally grown produce, handled with care and harvested at its peak. Our 2026 season will run weekly, likely from June through October. Exact start and end dates TBD.
We are grateful to our community for its steadfast support of our farm and local sustainable food.
Grow Your Own! Shaker Heirloom seeds and Shaker Village Black Gold compost are available for purchase in Shaker Mercantile, our retail shop. (For large compost quantities, 24 hour advance appointment required)
Your registration for the CSA program constitutes your agreement to specific and limited use of your email address.
MEAT CSA for the 2026-2027 Coming end of summer
As one of the oldest working farms in the Berkshires, Hancock Shaker Village is proud of humanely and sustainably raising animals for quality meat for generations. As a small local farm dedicated to sustainable farming, we are able to provide our animals with a safe, healthy environment and lots of individual care. You can feel good about eating the beef, lamb, and pork in your CSA share, knowing that it was raised with “tender” care.
Our beef cattle roam the pasture all summer and during the winter have free-choice access to hay in the field. Our sheep also graze outside during the day but spend the night safely inside our barn. Like the cows, our pigs are raised outside and enjoy a varied diet that includes fruits and vegetables from our gardens.
As part of a long-standing historic site, our barnyard is open to the public for much of the year. It is not typical to be able to tour the farm where your food comes from, but Hancock Shaker Village is not your typical farm! We hope you will visit us to see for yourself how our animals are raised. Thank you for supporting our regenerative and humane farming practices by purchasing a Hancock Shaker Village meat CSA share.
A CSA share consists of 40 lbs (distributed in 8-pound portions over a 5-month period) of assorted beef, lamb, and pork cuts. In addition, each month shareholders will receive eggs from our free-range hens. Pickup is from 2-5pm on the third Thursday of each month, dates for the 2026/2027 season are:
