We depend on the talents of hundreds of volunteers like you to develop and deliver programs, mount exhibitions, produce special events and manage our farm and gardens. You can volunteer every week or just once a year — whatever suits your schedule! Here are some of the opportunities we offer:
Greeter Welcome arriving visitors and school groups, and help launch them on a memorable visit!
Interpreter Present Shaker history, lead guided tours or demonstrate a craft.
Gardener Help maintain our heirloom gardens or assist with CSA distribution.
Farmer Support the barn staff by providing care to animals.
Office Assistant Help us “behind the scenes” to update membership records or assist with a mailing.
Curatorial Assistant Support our curator with collections and exhibitions. Tasks include research and data entry, cleaning period rooms or arranging artifacts for display.
Facilities Assistant Provide simple carpentry or repair, or tend to other essential tasks throughout our 20 historic buildings.
Special Events Assistant Join us at one of our fairs or festivals to help with children’s activities, parking, or set-up/break-down.
