Each year during the holidays, the Shakers gathered up clothes, bedding, and food, and distributed to those in need. When you visit the Village, bring a non-perishable food item for our neighbors in need. You’ll receive discounted admission and we’ll happily distribute.

Enjoy Thanksgiving weekend at the farm. It’s an ideal setting to spend time with family and friends. See our heritage breed turkeys in the barnyard and say hello to other animals in the historic Round Stone Barn. Enjoy a peaceful meander along the Farm and Forest Trail, a 1-mile accessible trail. Ski or snowshoe our trails (weather permitting). Learn about the Shakers and see their beautifully-designed objects in the 19thcentury Brick Dwelling on tours of the building at 11am and 1pm. Shop for the holidays in Shaker Mercantile for hand-crafted goods you can’t find anywhere else, several made here by artisans at the Village. Warm up with warm spiced local cider and autumn treats at Seeds Market Cafe.

Savor a candlelit harvest dinner in the Brick Dwelling, where Shakers ate communally beginning in 1830. A locavore’s delight, the menu reflects that the harvest is in and autumn’s bounty is at its peak – we’ve got all the deliciousness we need right on the farm. (Plus, who wants to cook?) Tonight’s dinner benefits our new farm internship program.

Escape the frenzy of modern holidays and experience the magic of an enchanted evening at the Village filled with New England traditions, live music, storytelling, festive food, candlelight, and caroling. The landscape takes on a magical appearance, decorated in greenery and illuminated by twinkling lights. Stroll on a lantern-lit tour through the Village to the historic 1910 barn for live music, then meander into the Round Stone Barn to see our young calves (bring your cameras for the cutest photo opportunities) not to mention the goats, lambs, pigs, rams, miniature donkeys, and chickens. We’ll end up in the Brick Dwelling for a holiday reading, followed by appetizers, cocktails, and punch for the kids. End by luminaria caroling through the historic Village.

Experience afternoon tea in the historic Brick Dwelling, decorated festively for the holidays. Performing will be The Great Barrington Rudolf Steiner School Presto Strings at 1:30pm and The Great Barrington Rudolf Steiner School Recorder Consort at 4pm. Tea includes an array of sweet and savory bites (you’ll love the Shaker tea cakes!), ending with a behind-the-scenes peek at the upstairs rooms in this beautiful 19th-century dwelling. Communal seating.
