Shakers were locavores long before the word was invented. “Why send to Europe’s distant shores for plants which grow at our own doors?” an 1845 Shaker catalogue asked. The evening begins with a color tour of the garden, picking ideal vegetables for good health while enjoying some crafty cocktails. Over dinner, learn from the expert—pioneering ophthalmologist Johanna Seddon will talk about just how easy it is to eat for good health. Guests take home Seddon’s Eat Right for Your Sight, with phenomenal recipes by Jacques Pépin, Alice Waters, and other healthy cooking superstars.
