Open June 4-28
Our baby lambs, calves, chicks, kids, and piglets are waiting to meet you in newly built outdoor enclosures*. Get up close to visit them (but stay a safe social distance of two sheep apart!) and get familiar with how we care for the animals. You’ll probably see Farmer Billy and Allie, our livestock manager, who will answer your questions and make sure you have a fun visit.
Pre-purchased timed tickets are required for all visitors. During our Phase 1 opening, our hours are Thursday—Sunday, 10 am—3 pm. Only outdoor spaces are open; all buildings in the historic village, including the Round Stone Barn and Dairy Ell, will be closed until at least early July. Please read our FAQ and safety guidelines before your visit, and check here frequently for updates.
*Note that animals may be moved indoors during prolonged periods of heat for their safety. Piglets are indoors, viewable through windows in the Dairy Ell, until they are old enough to go outdoors.
For schools: Zoom with Baby Animals
School visits are a huge part of our educational programming here at Hancock Shaker Village. While we cannot allow group visits at this time, we have developed a virtual way to connect with your students through a Zoom session with our farm animals. Our lambs, calves, pigs, goats, chickens, donkeys, turkeys, ducks, and even our barn cat will be happy to see you!
If you are interested in arranging a tour, please contact our director of education. Pricing is dependent on the number of Zoom users attending the tour. We hope you’ll join us. Thanks for all you do to keep our children educated during this difficult time.
