Relax, recharge, and explore our nineteenth-century gardens and twenty historic buildings. Cuddle with the animals (they’re still babies!) and take mom to three wellness-related talks:

Strong Women (11:30 am): What was it like to be a nineteenth-century Shaker woman? Learn how they managed healthcare, wellness, work, and being equal with men 150 years before women’s suffrage.

Medicinal Herbs (1:30 pm): Discover the fascinating story of how the Shakers gathered wild herbs, then cultivated plants for plant-based wellness, eventually selling the surplus. By the mid-1800s doctors were ordering hundreds of different herbs, and the Shakers had a booming business.  The talk moves from the garden to the apothecary and infirmary of the 1828 Brick Dwelling.

Gong Sound Healing Meditation (2:30 pm): Using the technology of Kundalini Yoga, this class begins with a short breath meditation and then moves into the soundscapes of the gong. Meditate or simply relax and heal. All levels and all ages are welcome.

Moms take home a seedling to remember their special day.
