DESCRIPTION:Timber Framing Workshop:  A Traditional Approach \nDate: Wednesday-Sunday\, September 23-27\, 2026 (five-day workshop) \nTime:  9 am-5 pm \nWorkshop Content \nLearn the traditional art of timber-framing in the beautiful setting of Hancock Shaker Village. During the five-day workshop\, participants will cut\, assemble\, and raise a small timber-framed building using traditional hand tools. \nAbout the Instructors \nNeil Godden has been building timber frames since he got his start in this very class in 1997. Neil is the Executive Director and Operations Manager of the Heartwood School\, he has been a timber frame contractor in Western Massachusetts since 2000\, and he has been teaching Timber Framing since 1999. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and techniques for this time-tested craft\, specializing in building traditional timber frames using primarily hand tools. \nAdrian Almquist works as a carpenter and timber framer in the hills of Western Massachusetts. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a personalized view of the Shaker world on a ninety-minute tour led by experienced Village staff.  \nThe topic for Wednesday\, September 23\, is Shaker design. This new offering will investigate Shaker design in a closer look at the architecture and objects at Hancock Shaker Village.  The tour will focus on several signature buildings\, including the Brick Dwelling\, the Trustees’ Office & Store\, and the Round Stone Barn.  \nPre-registration is required. Registration fee\, which includes general admission to the Village\, is $40/adults\, $15/young people ages 6-17. 10% discount for HSV members.
